From 11 April 2026, the format of the A2 exam for permanent residence will be partially changed.

The exam level (A2) remains the same. The certificate and exam dates will not change.

All candidates who take the exam from 11 April onwards will take the new version of the exam.

  • Practice the Writing and Speaking parts of the exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stays the same?

The exam level (A2), the certificate and exam dates remain the same.

The minimum passing score is 60%.

The total number of points for the written and oral parts does not change – the written part has 70 points (Reading 25, Listening 25, Writing 20) and the oral part has 40 points.

What is changing?

From 11 April 2026, the Writing and Speaking parts will change – the distribution of points in individual tasks has been adjusted.

When will the change take effect?

The new format will apply from 11 April 2026.

Anyone with an exam date on or after 11 April will take the new version of the exam.

Does this change apply to me?

Your exam date is what matters.

At the moment, it is not possible to say exactly whether you will have a date before or after the change.

If you take the exam in April, you will take the new version.

In January 2026, candidates will receive an email with detailed information.

What if I am already registered?

If your exam date is before 11 April 2026, you will take the old version.

If your exam date is on or after 11 April 2026, you will take the new version.

You do not need to change anything – we will confirm all information by email.

If I register now, will I get a date before April 2026?

We cannot guarantee that you will receive a date before the exam change.

This depends on the waiting list and available places at testing centres.

Do not make changes to your registration – you could be moved to the end of the waiting list.

Will the exam be more difficult?

Some tasks look different, but they still correspond to the A2 level and everyday communication situations.

Well-prepared candidates do not need to worry.

Practice Test (version valid from 11 April 2026)

Test your Czech at A2 level. The result of the practice test will show whether you are ready to take the exam.

The test has four parts: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.

Reading and Listening work like a real exam. After the test, you will see correct and incorrect answers.

Writing and Speaking do not show automatic results. You can check your answers using sample texts (Writing) and video recordings (Speaking) at the end of each task.

You need about two hours to complete the whole test.

If your result in Reading and Listening is below 80%, we recommend repeating these parts.
